Randolph Scott was a Hollywood film actor whose career spanned from 1928 to 1962. As a leading man for all but the first three years of his cinematic career, Scott appeared in dramas, comedies, musicals, adventures, war, horror and fantasy films, and Westerns. Out of his more than 100 film appearances, more than 60 of them were Westerns. Some of his best work included The Tall T, Ride Lonesome, 7 Men From Now and Comanche Station. During the early 1950s, Scott was a consistent box-office draw. In the annual Motion Picture Herald Top Ten Polls, his name appeared on the list for four consecutive years, from 1950 to 1953 and he also appeared in Quigley's Top Ten Money Makers Poll, from 1950 to 1953.

Fun Facts

Randolph Scott shared living spaces with Cary Grant on and off again for 12 years early in their careers (not unusual for Hollywood rising stars to share apartments and homes to save money). They are know to have shared living quarters at:

* 1221 North Sweetzer Avenue in Hollywood, California

* The Monterey Village Apartments (aka Bachelor Hall) at 2177 West Live Oak Drive in Los Feliz, California

* Beach House at 1038 Palisades Beach Road in Santa Monica, California

Cary Grant’s only daughter, Jennifer Grant, finally wants to put the rumors to rest. For decades, fans have speculated about Grant’s sexuality, with some believing that he was gay after being married five times and only having one child at the age of 62. Grant, whose real name was Archibald ‘Archie’ Leach, lived with his co-star Randolph Scott in Malibu for 12 years after working together on the 1932 film Hot Saturday, which only fueled the rumors. However in addition to Jennifer Grant and ex-wifes, Randolph Scott’s family also vehemently deny any gay rumors as “bullshit.”

Randolph Scott’s first color film as the movie Jesse James (1939), a lavish highly romanticized account of the famous outlaw (Tyrone Power) and his brother Frank (Henry Fonda). Scott was billed fourth as a sympathetic marshal after the James brothers.
