Frank "The Voice" Sinatra was an American singer, producer and motion-picture actor who, through a long career and a very public personal life, became one of the most sought-after performers in the entertainment industry. Often hailed as the greatest American singer of 20th-century popular music, Sinatra is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, having sold more than 150 million records worldwide.

In the 1950s an informal social club called the Holmby Hills Rat Pack (named by Lauren Bacall when the boys came in from drinking one night and she commented that they all looked like “a pack of drowned rats”) formed around Humphrey Bogart and his friends. With original members Bogart, Bacall, Sinatra, Judy Garland, agent Swifty Lazar and songwriter Sammy Cahn, Sinatra took over the group when Bogart’s health began to decline. Joining Frank were Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford with Sinatra dubbed the “Chairman of the Board” whenever the social club was spotted at a local hotspot. The group really gained traction after Vincente Minnelli directed Sinatra and Martin in their first movie together, Some Came Running. Shortly after Frank produced Dean’s next album and from their they shared the stage at the Sands in Las Vegas, trading ad libs that became the beginnings of early sixties Rat Pack cool. With the addition of Sammy, Joey and Peter the group’s hard-swinging, swell broads and hazy booze-filled reputation was sealed with the film Ocean’s Eleven. And that’s how it started ….
