C. S. Lewis
Fun Fact
C. S. Lewis and author J.R.R. Tolkien were best of friends and it would not be unusual to see the men sharing a pint in a local Oxford pub.
Media coverage of Lewis’s death was almost completely overshadowed by news of the assassination of US President John F. Kennedy, which occurred on the same day (approximately 55 minutes following Lewis’s collapse), as did the death of English writer Aldous Huxley, author of Brave New World.

Lewis Family PlotGrave Location Description
C.S. Lewis, one of the 20th century’s literary greats, rest about 10 rows from the back border wall in this small church cemetery. As you take the long walk from the city street to the church property, follow the path towards the entrance to the church (on your left) and take the first walkway on your right. Follow that path until it turns to grass (about 100 feet) and C.S. Lewis flat monument will be on your left (or you can just follow the signs). In 1992, a gorgeous etched glass window featuring beloved Narnia characters was installed in the church. The fantasy scene is located adjacent to the pew where he always sat.
