Richard McDonald
Fun Fact:
Once a year McDonald’s would celebrate “Founders Day” and pay tribute to Ray Kroc – the man who stole McDonald’s from the actual founders Richard and Maurice (Dick and Mac to their friends). It was only after Ray Kroc was dead and buried did the executives of the McDonald’s Corporation begin to recognize the true origins of the infamous restaurant chain. In fact, on November 30, 1984, Richard McDonald, the first cook behind the grill of a McDonald’s, was served the ceremonial 50 billionth McDonald’s hamburger by Ed Rensi, then president of McDonald’s USA, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New York City.
To soften the blow, when Dick and Mac sold out to Ray Kroc, Dick bought a lot of McDonald’s stock when it went public and that help soften the blow of having his company stolen from him when the stock dramatically increased.
