Sammy Davis Jr. overcame prevailing racism to establish himself as an entertainment legend, becoming a successful comedian, actor, dancer and singer. Sammy first appeared on stage at age 2 and made his debut in the film Rufus Jones for President at the age of 6. At age 7 he joined his father and uncle as part of the Will Maston Trio, eventually establishing himself as the star of the act. Later as part of the Rat Pack, with Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, Davis was known for films like Ocean's 11 and Sergeants 3 along with his hard partying ways.

Sammy Davis Jr. died of throat cancer in Beverly Hills in May 1990, his estate was valued at over $4 million dollars however he left a tax debt of nearly $5 million that due to interest and penalties, had increased to $7 million.

Two notes – first the Garden of Honor is only open to the public on Easter Sunday and second, if the door is ajar or you choose to follow a keyholder you need to remember, the door is locked both ways and you will not be able to get out of the garden.
