Suzanne Somers
Fun Facts
Season five (1980–1981) of Three’s Company marked the beginning of contract re-negotiations and sparked friction on the set. Somers demanded a substantial increase in salary, from $30,000 to $150,000 per episode plus 10% of the show’s profits. John Ritter, as the show’s top-billed actor, was making $50,000 per episode at the time. When Somers’ demands were not met, Somers went on a strike of sorts, appearing for only 1 minute per episode at the end of the 22 minute show. Although a lucative counter offer was made, she refused the offer and was fired shortly after.
Ms. Somers’s first notable role came in the 1973 Oscar-nominated film “American Graffiti,” though she appeared only briefly, mouthing “I love you” to one of the stars, Richard Dreyfuss. The credits listed her as “Blonde in T-Bird.”
