Fun Facts
During her studies in Paris, Anna Chromy met her mentor, Salvador Dalí, who also became a personal friend. As his pupil, Dali inspired Chromy’s imagination and creativity with his personal style of art known as surrealism. Chromy developed an appreciation of Dali’s style, and her paintings drew from her admiration of Dali and other artists of surrealism such as Max Ernst, Rene Magritte. She did a charcoal of Dali and Gala titled “Homage Dali & Gala,” and Dali’s image appears in her 1981 oil painting, “The Boat of Cadaces.”
Awards and recognition of her life’s work include the Michelangelo Award (the “Sculptors Oscar”) in Tuscany, the Honorary Fellow of the National Sculpture Association of China, Beijing, the Golden Medal of Prague 1 and the First Western Artist invited to a Solo Exhibition in National Museum, Beijing

The Petersfriedhof or St. Peter’s Cemetery is – together with the burial site at Nonnberg Abbey – the oldest cemetery in the Austrian city of Salzburg, located at the foot of the Festungsberg with Hohensalzburg Castle. The famed artist and painter Anna Chromy can easily be found along one of the paths of this small cemetery.
