Claim to Fame:
Music
Associates:
One-half of the founding members of T. Rex with Marc Bolan, Steve Peregrin Took was by all accounts a remarkable musician and songwriter - when he was sober. After two years and three albums, Took's push to perform more of his own material – as well as his drug use – had driven a wedge between Marc and Steve and Took was fired from the group. He went on to a series of short-lived bands, but never came close to the success Bolan achieved without him. Sadly, relegated to the history books as the Pete Best of glam rock, he is cruelly remembered as the rock star who choked on a cocktail cherry and died.

Grave Location Description

From Harrow Road just past a pub called the Masons Arm, look for the sign for St. Mary’s Cemetery and little further down you will see the entrance to Kensal Green on your left. Just inside the gate is a green hut where you can get a free map here with the numbered sections marked on it. Head for Section 103, which is past the chapel near the center of the cemetery.  About 50 yards from the chapel, on the main path, you will come to a roundabout with a feature in the center, turn left here along a grassy path for about 30 yards, to your left you will see a smaller grass covered path (not very obvious). Steve Took’s grave is about 25 to 35 feet along to the right, close to the path.
